The Workshop has been aimed to provide a forum for scientist involved in the research of physics, preparation and application of semiconductor nanocrystals to present novel results and to change information. This has been the first event gathering experts in this relatively narrow, but very dynamically developing research area.
One of the main goals of the organizers has been to collect invited speakers from the best experts of the field. The other goal has been to arrange a relatively cheep event for providing possibility to attend it for students, young scientist and other researchers having limited budget. The third goal has been to realize a useful and successful event of high scientific quality and pleasant atmosphere.
The Workshop has been focused on but not restricted to the following main topics: All aspects - physics, chemistry, preparation, passivation, properties, application, methods of investigation, etc. - of
- semiconductor nanocrystals embedded in insulator layers, or located at metal/insulator, metal/semiconductor or semiconductor/insulator interfaces, or on metal, semiconductor or insulator surfaces,
- porous semiconductor materials
- semiconductor nanocrystals embedded in or between wide bandgap semiconductors, and
- related 'exotic' topics, as e.g., dielectric nanocrystals, voids, metal nanoparticles in insulators or semiconductors, luminescence with rare earth or transition metal doping, preparation and properties of very thin insulating layers, etc.
